 Mumbai - " UNTITLED' : Staging women's issues

The Afternoon
Wednesday, March 19, 2003

A timeless production, Untitled gives voice to the woman of today and is applicable to any society. It is a dramatic play with a high voltage performance by Lushin Dubey. Various reviews have applauded the play for being an 'Ode to Womanhood.'. Here is an opportunity to be part of a rare one of its kind event. The play will travel to the Edinburgh Festival from here. Lushin Dubey has acted in several serials like Kashmeer and movies, Perfect Husband and Socha Na Tha. Untitiled was born out of a disaster situation when lushin was aboard a flight to the US and the 9/11 attack happened. On the plane, for the first time, Lushin saw what fear was like. Soon after she watched the series Beneath the Veil depicting the atrocities committed against the Afghani women.

This urged her to do something. She contacted Arvind Gaur, and their combined angst for the plight of women, delivered this play. The Women's Movement for Peace and Prosperity under which the play has been showcased, focuses on women as a conduit for promoting world peace and harmony. It empowers women by building up their self esteem so they achieve their goals in areas of education, spirituality, entrepreneurship and health. The tickets for the play will be available at the Sophia Bhabha Auditorium for the 7.30 p.m. show on March 21 and 22.
